Open Mic Night Attracts a Variety of Performers

Last Thursday, the Art School's Koopman Commons was filled with students for the first annual Coffee House Open Mic night. The event included poetry slams, a cappella performances, bands and stand-up comedians. The event was hosted by the Student Art Council.

Panel Discusses Issues Ahead

On Wednesday night, the University's Wilde Auditorium hosted a forum examining the issues facing president-elect Barack Obama and Congress. Entitled, "Where Do We Go From Here?", the occasion saw the attendance of former congressmen, Democrat Jim Maloney of Connecticut's fifth district and Republican Rob Simmons of Connecticut's second district.

Webster Theater Continues Streak with Bareilles

Pulling out all the stops, Webster Theater has had a fall full of great concerts. From Hanson, to All Time Low, Cobra Starship, to Matt Nathanson, they really have had a lot of fun at the historic venue. Last week that tradition continued with Sara Bareilles.

After Promising Start, Hawks Bounced by UVM

The University of Hartford men's soccer team's once-promising season ended Saturday as the Hawks lost in the quarterfinals of the America East Championship. The fourth-seeded University of Vermont Catamounts defeated Hartford 3-1 at Centennial Field in Vermont, advancing to take on top-seeded Boston University in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Accused Rapist in Classroom

I never knew that the Ohio school systems did some crazy things to their students. Apparently, Belmont County Judge Frank Fregiato has brought the courtroom, not a mock trial, to classrooms all over the county. And most recently, he brought the case of a child sex offender accused of raping and molesting several children in the past 20 years.
